Climate change has complex effects on cultural and natural heritage sites, and expected changes in climate factors will intensify the challenges of their conservation. Romania has an extensive collection of sites and monuments, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which represent a vital cultural resource and are part of the national identity. The increase in temperatures, changes in wind direction and speed, but also the intensification of extreme phenomena will lead to the amplification of climatic stress and the vulnerability of cultural heritage in the coming decades.
